How to: Improve Your Social Media Presence

These are the steps needed to take to enhance your presence on social media.

Know and understand your goals and objectives:

If you don’t know what you and your brand are looking to accomplish through your social media use, it is not going to be transparent to your audience or potential customers. This is the first step in going in the right direction.

Use the right platforms:

After you understand your goals and objectives, you should think about your target audience and which social media platforms would best fit their needs. For example, you are probably not going to want to use Snapchat or Tumblr if you are targeting an older demographic. Instead, maybe think about using Facebook.

Connect and interact with your followers:

Followers want to feel appreciated and welcomed by a brand or company. Being sure to acknowledge them and their comments will make them want to keep following along with your brand.

Promote your social media pages:

There are several ways to promote your social media pages, such as through Facebook and Instagram ads. Check these out, as they may be very beneficial to promoting your brand through social media.

Create engaging content:

Make sure that the things you are posting on social media will resonate with your audience. It is important that the things you are posting are visually interesting, easily understood, and are relatable. Check out my blog post about this here!

Be familiar with trends:

Not only trends, but it is also important to be aware of what is going on in the world around you. You need to be able to build trust and connections with consumers, and you can do this by showing you are in tune with what is going on around you.

Be consistent with your posts:

Posting consistently is very important. You want to both be posting often and be posting content that flows together nicely. If you are creating and posting content that is on brand with your company, the flow of your content should be aligning. You need to understand what you are trying to accomplish before you can keep a consistent flow of posts.

Try out a management tool:

There are several different content creation management tools, such as HootSuite and SproutSocial that are available (and most of the time free) to use. They can be very helpful and can aid your organization with social media organization. Check out Hootsuite here and check out SproutSocial here!
